Dangerous emails

Yes, you'd better watch out how you write your emails!
Emails can be very useful, things can be explained simply, sent quickly, with attachments, and it's free. So yes, it is very easy and quickly done.
But especially for that, you'd better be careful.
Things are a lot more informal in emails. So it is so easy to forget you're not writing to your old friend but to your boss. People tend to shorten everything, and leave the nice and polite greetings and letter endings for paper letters. But politeness is expected on emails.
The tone of the email can also be misunderstood. And it's not always possible to put a smiley to make our point clear.
So a joke can turn into a real "quiproquo".

What to do? Re-read the email as if you were the recipient, trying to understand the double meaning of things. And a good tip is to look at how they wrote their email and copy their expressions.

You might also want to go online and look for email guidelines, they are all other the web!
